Facts for Gloucester, MA

Plant Hardiness Zones 6-7

Frost Dates - Barbara, the owner of Goose Cove Gardens, has seen a killing frost as late as May 15! So don’t put out the tender summer crops (tomatoes, eggplants, etc.) until after Memorial Day weekend. Early, cool weather crops (lettuce, peas, etc.) can go in around mid April. Pick the last of your summer crops by early/mid October and get ready for a killing frost by the end of October.

Local artist, Phoebe Potts, created the FUN PAGES! She has been a Gloucester Backyard Grower since 2009. The potatoes of 2009 are her greatest growing accomplishment to date, as well as convincing a toad to live in the Brussels sprouts. Phoebe’s work can be found here: www.phoebepotts.com.
